Christmas Glass Blocks

Every year, I make a little something for my  husband to take to his staff at Christmas.  This year, I decided to make decorated glass blocks with vinyl and the Teresa Collins December 25th Cricut Cartridge.  This is what they look like (front and back):
And this is the glass block (front and back) I am giving my sweet neighbor - I made this with my Silhouette Cameo:

I think they turned out really pretty if I must say so myself!  LOL!

Custom ordered apron

Things are getting busy in my craft room! I have an order for four aprons- I will post pictures of those when they are done. I'm also going to be sewing a crib skirt and basket liners for my first grandchild due in February.

This is a picture of a custom ordered apron I made for my sister-in-law who is a cat lover. I used a Simplicity pattern and a patterned fabric with cats. I think she is going to love it!

A Blessing in Disguise

A month ago, I participated in my first craft show.  It was a beautiful day, but there were also several other shows that Saturday, so needless to say, I didn't fare too well - didn't even make up the entry fee.  Then, three weeks ago, I entered my second show with much anticipation since the venue was larger and the only one that weekend.  Well, Mother Nature decided to rain on my parade.  Actually, as my grandma would say, it came a gully-washer.  The show started at 9:00 a.m - at 9:05, the heavens opened and poured down rain ALL day.  I made one sale, and three hours later, decided to pack it up and go home (as was everyone else).

So what was I to do with all these Halloween and Thanksgiving treat boxes I had filled with candy?  I didn't know if they would survive a year in storage, so I sent them with my husband to his office for his co-workers to enjoy. And from that I have received orders that I probably would not have gotten otherwise with orders waiting in the wings for Christmas.

Instead of my glass being half-empty, I choose to say the rain was a blessing.  God is so good all the time.

Here is a pic of the order I made for Thanksgiving treat boxes using my Cricut Expression, Create A Critter and Home for the Holidays cartridge.  The pumpkin pie slices are a CCR file from Cricut.com.

Wonderful News!!!

Our son and his wife gave me the most wonderful birthday present in July!  They told us they were going to make us first time grandparents in February!

We are so excited and last week they found out it is going to be a little girl!!  And I'm going to have a namesake!  They have decided to name her "Nora Kathryn" - my immediate family has always called me Nora since I was a little girl.  I am so honored and humbled.  I hope I can be the grandmother that she deserves and like my Grandma Jessie was to me.

We are blessed.

Flirt Scarf

So sorry that I haven't posted in a while - summer was very busy and now I am getting prepared for my first craft show on Saturday, September 28th.  My house looks like a craft show!! Maybe I should just open my front door and put up a sign!  LOL!

I found a new type of "yarn" at Joann's the other day - and it is absolutely beautiful!  It it made by Premier Yarns and is called "Starbella Flirt".  It has a chiffon fabric on one side and the loops on the other and it becomes a perfect weight for the warmer weather we have down here in southern Alabama!  I've already made 3 and hopefully will get a few more made before the 28th.
